Interest Free Loan

Interest Free Loan and Welfare Society (R.)
(Register No. 164/81-82)

Islam has prohibited demanding or giving of interest and encouraged charity & business because interest related dealings destroys the moral character of the society creating ____ and charity develops good well in the society.
The present financial system prevailing in this country where you encounter interest at every step is the main cause for all the ills of the society and atrocities on the people. Interest makes the rich more rich and pushes the poor into the depths of poverty. By this way the money lender wants to amass more wealth and the poor gets trampled by him. That is why Allah has prohibited interest and encouraged charity.
The Holy Quran says, ‘Allah deprives interest of all blessings and develops charity.’
(Al Baqara: 276)

If we look at interest from the moral and spiritual points of view, we see clearly that it is based on greed, selfishness, parsimony, narrow-mindedness, hard-heartedness and the like, there by nurturing the same evils in the money-lender. On the other hand, charity is based on generosity, sympathy, broad mindedness, broad-heartedness and the like, nence.. develops the same high qualities.
On economic point of view interest is detrimental to the society. Loans are of two kinds. The consumptive loan is borrowed by the helpless needy persons for their personal needs and the economic loan is taken by businessmen for trade, commerce, industry, agriculture and the like. As to the first kind of loan, everyone knows that interest on it produces disasterous results. In every country the money lenders and bankers are sucking the blood of the labourers, peasants and the poor people in general and making their condition miserable. The interest charges render the payment of debt almost impossible for such people and they have to borrow loan after loan to get out of this mess.

Islam encourages an interest free society and it is the duty of all Muslims to show the way to such an economic system to the world. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has started interest free societies at all centres wherever possible for the past few years. In Mangalore such a society has been operating since April 1982 under the name 'Interest Free Loan & Welfare Society.
